Question:

What snake would be O.K if he was in the same cage as my Corn Snake?

I'm trying to find another snake to accompany my Corn Snake...something that will get about the same size as eachother, and a snake that she would get along with. She is 2 ft right now...and is about the thickness of a pencil, if not 3 cm. bigger. plz help thnx!!!!

  1. snakes are solitary animals for the most part. they only come together for mating or brumation (think garter snakes)

    aside from that, it is very easy to transmit a benign pathogen from one species of animal to another, and the other species reacts to it in a harmful sense. also, stress from another snake in the enclosure can cause an animal to go off feed, lose weight, and parasitic blooms. lastly, cannibalism is widespread in the serpent world. consider how they eat, whats going to go down easier, a short and wide rat, or a thin and long snake? its an issue of user friendliness.

    its not that it cant be done, but in most senses keeping snakes together doesn't have very good consequences.

  4. Snakes don't like company. They aren't social creatures. They do however from time to time enjoy eating other snakes...
