  1. go talk to a salesperson at your local sporting goods store for info.  till you are more proficient, it might be cheaper to rent a snowboard and boots.  the boots aren't edible, so pack your own food to eat on the mountain.

  2. Do not listen to the answer above this one, you do not want a board thats 158cm for your size and ability. A 158 would be way to hard for you to ride because there a hassel to manuevre when you only a beginner, let alone when you've been riding for a while. Your better off buying a board thats around 151-155cm. The Burton Blunt, Forum Recon, almost any Atomic board, would all be good choices. I think 32 makes non-leather boots but the technology is better so you'll have to pay more.

  3. there are so many places to go ,but even though winter is almost done, there are probably clearance sales going on now, when the snow is gone, you can still work on your skills for next winters season of snowboarding by, skateboarding in the summer and roller blading , its great exercise and will keep you in shape for next year. heres a site http://snowsportblog.blogspot.com/

  4. I'd say a 156cm board should be about right for you... maybe even a 154cm... though the actual model is going to depend more on what kind of riding you intend to do. If you're more into park riding then you want a totally different board then if you're going to be riding big mountain powder lines. That said, the Burton Air is a solid board, nothing special but very solid. You wont go wrong with that as your first board. The Customs are nice too...

Burton also makes great bindings and boots. I just picked up a pair of SL10s and they're easily the nicest boots I've ever seen. As for the bindings, even their bottom of the line models are great. You really cant go wrong with Burton, from their boards to their AK gear to bindings or boots, all their stuff is really nice.. but pricey.

PS- If you can find gear in your sizes, which 11 will probably be tough, now is a great time to pick it up. Everyone has gear on sale like 40-60% off at the end of the season... as long as you dont care that you'll be riding last years models next season. I picked up a Burton Vapor a couple weeks ago for only $600 on some 40% sale at dogfunk.com... probably could find it even cheaper now if I'd waited.

PPS- Most boots are synthetic leather so you dont need to worry.

  5. A good board size for you is around 156-158. shorter or longer by a couple cm wont make a difference. The air is a good board, but if you have big boot sizes, you should probably get a wider board. (if your size is 10.5 or bigger).

For bindings, The missions or the Cartels are a nice choice to go with the air. Theyre light and comfortable and are great all mountain bindings.

For boots, you should probably go to a store and try them out.

A good boot is one that fits nice and snug, and only you can tell. boots fit different people differently. So go try those out.

Although it is late in the season, It is still not a bad time to get it now. this years stuff has gone on sale and you can still use it acouple times this year.

  6. yes there are non leather boots out there, but they're usually nowhere near as durable, also, late season/end of season would be the best time to get a board.  It will be way cheaper for you to buy after the season is over than at the start of next season.  Even though you won't be riding it, the technology won't change much from this season to next.  I'd reccomend buying the board in april/may....could save you a boat load.

  7. forum recon is the board for you however, the air is a great board. i have a burton clash but if i were looking to buy a new board now, it'd be between the air, dominant or doom (all made by burton) you may me able to find a boots in non leather, but idk.  flux bindings, preferably super titan or super emblem. burton bindings are good and so are rides.

  8. Wow ^. He does not want to EAT the boots. Leather is a material created through the tanning of skins of animals, that's why he does not want leather shoes.

Try using this calculator to see what what size you should get: http://frostyrider.com/tips/size-guide.h... It will also recommend some boards for you.

    :)
