What snowboard should i choose?

Question

im a beginning but good snowboarder and im getting a new board. i cant decide which one to get though. ive had my eyes on 2 boards. one is a Academy Rhythm Snowboard that is $200. the other one i was thinking of getting is the 2008 Burton Blunt that is $250>the burton blunt looks like it has graffiti on it. i also like to ride in the terrain park, go off jumps, and i also like to ride around. please tell me what board you think is right for me and anything else. Thanks

They are both nice snowboards but I would go with The Burton. Those are some great qaulity snowboards and they will be better in Park. Not to mention they are tough.

Oh, and I agree with the guy above. You should check out Rome too.

I'd say get the burton blunt it seems to be more of a park board to me then the Academy one when getting a snowboard you want to make sure its a good park board because you want it to nice and flexable

Personally I wouldnt go with either one. Both are true twin snowboards which are great for riding switch and jibbing in the park, but neither are going to hold a great edge, power through turns, or give you very much pop out of jumps. Because you are a beginner/intermediate and like to also ride around the mountain, I would check out a directional-twin snowboard. This is a very versatile style of board that still rides switch like a champ but will also turn well and perform all around the resort including through the trees, on groomed runs, in the deeper snow, and off the jumps and in the pipe. The stiffer tail of a directional twin will give you the pop you are looking for if you are interested in the jumps and it will help you land with more stability. Hopefully that makes sense. A few boards I would recommend for you are the Gnu CHB http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/, the Burton Mayhem http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/2009-Burt... or even something like the Option Motive http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/Option-Mo... These are three all-mountain freestyle boards that will ride the mountain just as well as the park. I see that some other people have referred Rome, which is a quality company, but the Machine is a wide, park-specific snowboard and unless your feet are size 11.5 or bigger... the machine is not a good board for you and your style of riding.

the blunt is a park board and it is 350 not 250...i think.  but its a good board for the price.  I bought a board last year and was like "god burton's prices are insane" so i went cheap and got a burton clash, which ended up being a fairly good purchase. but i would go with the blunt. if you want to just cruise around one day, put your bindings so that youve got more angle on the front binding than you do on the back binding, and move the whole stance a little toward the back of the board. if you want to hit up the park on a certain day, center your stance and put the bindings so that they are symetrical (15 on one and -15 on the other).
