How come I see a lot of people compliment that asians are smart and ambitious. I think no matter what races you are, we are all human and ofcourse there are dumb and smart ppl. But why everywhere I go I keep hearing that other races (white, black, hispanic, etc..) think that asian people are very intelligent. I'm Caucasian but sometimes I do respect Asians that most of them are hard working and ambitious. I dont think all of them are smart. What do you guy think? Just curious what so good about Asians...I hate to hear too much compliment about them..Am not jeolous or anything...guys, give your opinion..

  1. I think we are all equal, like you said. We may have different colors on the outside but we all have the same color on the inside. And I will agree that some are smarter than others. Most of them probably smarter than me. lol. But I think we are all the equal.

  2. Asians are prevented from getting in some schools because of quotas.  There are too many of them, for cultural reasons mostly, I assume, that ace all the entrance exams.  It is hard for the rest of us not to notice.

  3. They are humans and just like everyone else, good and bad, but I love the skin color and almond shaped eyes.  When you meet hem in their country they tend to be very friendly, when they move to America they become unfriendly average Americans.

  4. Sorry, but your stereotypy is kinda putting me off. I'm Asian, but I've always heard that caucasian babies are cute. And, it was then that I realised that every race is unique in their own way. EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT.

So, there's no need to feel inferior or jealous or whatsoever.

And, about Asians being hardworking and intelligent, it's kinda general. Not everybody is like that. And, the qualities an Asian possess, is from the parents. They are disciplined from a young age.

    UNDERSTAND?

  5. It's a stereotype based on data regarding breakdowns of statistics compiled from test scores and g.p.a.'s

  6. You have to look at the history of the people. Asians come from a long line of farming they are playing catch up.European have been more industrialize and have the feeling that they have accomplish what they need. Just study the automobile. It tells the story quite well. yes you ar right a bout all people are smart ones and dumb ones. In the U.S.we quit doing any thing. In the late fifty's we did not what to change the way we did things. Most of all the cost would be to much. At that time Asia was in the rebuilding stages because of the war. They know that they would have to be smarter work harder then the rest of the world. the rest of the world became lazy. So we have not learn yet. so we are getting left in the dust.

  7. Despite the fact that Asian culture is arguably the oldest and most refined on Earth, Asians are still eager to learn from us - even well enough to outdo us at what we do best.

They are eager to speak our language, wear our clothes, listen to our music, and explore our technology. They are not too proud to learn from others, even from those who are too proud to learn from them.

In fact, many cultures with less history are too stuck on themselves to learn from Asians. With the exception of take-out food and martial arts for kids, you'll see very little interest in Asian culture outside of Asia.

It is no wonder, considering the complexity of the written and spoken Chinese language, that our 26 letter alphabet sells well over there. Millions of phrases and thousands of characters in their lexicon explain why in the Far East, lifetime learning is taken for granted, and why they embrace our comparative simplicity.

To be fair, it is also easy to see how much harder it is for us to return the compliment.

  8. It's just stereotyping, there's different stereotypes for all races.

  9. The idea that Asians are so smart comes from cultural traits.  I am an anthropologist currently living in Taiwan so I see this everyday  I am also an English teacher.  The children here go to school just like kids in the US (7-8hours M-F) but then they also go to Bushiban or Cram School afterwards and on Saturday and sometimes Sunday.  Some of these kids spend between 12 and 16 hours a day in classes.  The emphasis on education is huge in Asia and they are driven by the desire for good jobs because there is not retirement planning here, just your kids to support you.  Also there is a large emphasis on 'keeping up with the Joneses'.  The kid next door or down th street goes to school for 10 hours so you send your kid to school for 12 hours so they will get the better job.  This carries over to Asian students in other countries, they are driven by culture, family, money, prestige, etc. to work as hard as they can and get the best job they can to support their parents and make the family look good.  These kids I teach get very little if any time to play and be kids and there is surely no time given between 18 and 25 to 'find themselves' no traveling for pleasure, no playing in the river or the woods, they are locked into a pattern of education that pushes the smart kids to great heights and hides those who fail to achieve as much.
