  1. idk

  2. i work at Best Buy and the best way is to just walk into your nearest store's vacuum isle and you'll see near the steam cleaners there should be a lot of different bottles of assorted cleaning materials. The Bissell one is about 7-10 bucks which isn't bad for a bottle of it's size.

  3. Just use white vinegar. Using soap is not good for the carpet fibers, and will actually attract dirt. The vinegar cleans the carpet and doesnt harm the fabric.

Edit to add: I use about 1/2 cup vinegar to the gallon of hot water.

  4. If you have oxiclean you can use that. Just use a 1/4 of laundry detergent.

  5. Do not use any soap as it will foam up and you wont get the soap and water out.  You can use and non sudsing carpet cleaner

  6. Aside from the manufacturer's recommendation, you can use any carpet cleaning fluid.

If you're looking for something that cleans every bit as well (or better) than carpet cleaning solution, I've used Simple Green (or generic green cleaner $1.97 last time I bought it at Walmart.)  You just have to experiment with ratio of cleaning fluid to water.  But, it'll clean carpet.
