  1. I can't provide a complete answer, but I know that sixty years later, $500.00 a month was a middle-class income, and many college graduates earned less.  However, social class doesn't depend entirely on income.  It also depends on one's standing in the community, which in turn depends to some extent on one's background and kind of job, as well as other factors.

  3. I'll answer #1 and #10, then show you how you can get the rest of the answers:

    1.  What cost $50 in 1892 would cost $1140.11 in 2007.

Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2007 and 1892, they would cost you $50 and $2.25 respectively.  $50/month back in 1892 would be below the poverty level, as its equivalent would still be in the USA today.

    10.  What cost $500 in 1892 would cost $11401.13 in 2007.

Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2007 and 1892, they would cost you $500 and $22.54 respectively. This salary would be quite high back then, as it is today.

The URL I've put in the source box below will take you to an inflation calculator, where you can input the rest of the figures to understand in last year's dollars what those 1892 figures represent.

    I hope this helps!

  4. I couldn't find any information for 1892 but I did find information for 1900.  The average teacher made $328.00 a year in 1900.  Construction workers made 37 cents an hour.
