What software (on mac) can turn a shape and turn it into a 3d realistic looking object?

I've heard of 3D studio max, but it's not for Mac. Is there a term for what I'm describing so I can research it more?

  1. cinema 4d or blender but it is not easy since they are 3d programs and cinema 4d has been used in movies
