What some ways of measuring the amount of air exhaled with each breath?

1.Fill a glass with water and put it in a pool of water upside down.  Stick a rubber hose or straw into the glass.  Exhale into the straw/hose.  Measure how much air is in the glass by volume and convert to mass.

2. Get a glass with a cross section like this.

Fill the glass with water.

Put a straw or rubber hose up the sides.

Exhale into the straw/hose so the gas is trapped in the side.  Measure the volume of air.
