I am trying out for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory (The Musical), at my local performing arts center. I'm auditioning for the role of Veruca Salt. I'm trying to figure out the perfect song to sing so that I can start working on it as soon as possible. So far, I've only come up with one possibility: The Stepsister's Lament from Cinderella. The people there kind of know me, but I don't think they know if I can act mean, or sing strong, which I can if I have the right song. So I'm basically looking for a song that is good for trying out for the part of Veruca.

  2. cruella de vil - selena gomez

    fabulous - sharpay from HSM2

or something from the willy wonka soundtrack

  3. Popular from Wicked.

  4. First of all, in response to the person above me, you DON'T want to be compared to the original singer of the song, because chances are they're a better singer than you and it'll actually make you sound worse in people's minds. Also, don't sing something from Wicked, because EVERYONE sings Wicked and it annoys the casting directors when they hear the same song over and over again.

As far as what song to audition with, I'd pick something that's sung in an English accent, because Veruca has an accent. Try to choose something that requires the same type of sound that you'd need for Veruca. I'm not very familiar with the music from Cinderella, but I bet it'd work well.

And now, in response to the person below me (:-P) : You aren't supposed to sing a song from the show you're auditioning for. I don't know why, but the casting directors frown upon that.

  5. because willy wonka is a musical production you should try singing something from a musical like cinderella....try songs from the broadway show wicked... find a really good song that not many people have heard before so they cant compare you to the original singer and it makes you sound so much better....trust me i know----

depending on what kind of singer you are depends on what to sing---

if you are like me try valentine by martina mcbride

  6. rihana-take a bow

  7. the umpa lupa song, or how ever you spell it

  8. How about "I want it now " from the Willy Wonka movie

Good luck trying now, If your performing for a Willy Wonka musical you should sing a Willy Wonka song, its kind weird singing a song from another movie...
