Ok, i am a Mechanic so i dont know this stuff but, I am trying to setup a sound system and have my speakers run thro a amp, i got 2x 40watt rated(190w peak power) speakers at the rear and im going to be putting little 4" speakers in the front, no sub, new head deck.

What sort of amplifier will i need? and i normally turn the sound up a bit to stop the bad noises in the car from getting to me lol.

  1. typically the rear speakers can handdle more power than the front ones...but if you power them according to the rear speakers you might overpower the front ones...

what you can do is look at the back of the front speakers and see what power thy can handle

lets say they say 140 peak 40watts rms at

    4ohms

then what you could do is get a four channel amp that provides 40 watts rms per speaker at 4 ohms

the rms of the speakers and the amp should match so should the ohms

    peak does not matter

so yeah i hope that was somewhat understandable

  2. Since you are getting a new head unit the amp in there should be enough for the speakers.

  3. i'd get like a 400-800w amp nothin too much

  4. When you buy those at the electronics shop, ask them and they can help you..it also depends where you are going to place them (ie. in a car, a van, or a room) and what effects would you like (i.e surround sound, theater etc.)

  5. Gosh im not sure
