What sort of herbs or spices would open up my Asian cooking repertoir

I love Asian food, but I unfortunately don't know how to spice it up. The ones I know of: sesame seeds, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, onion, hoisin sauce....I guess thats about it. It's getting a little boring so if anyone could provide me with any alternatives I'd appreciate it.
