What sort of legal aspects can a manager get into when promoting internally and not hiring outside?

in terms of organizational behavior, i need to find out how in the business culture, these actions are affected by the actions performed by the manager/owner. any links would be great.

  1. Well I dont know about the legal aspects... But what I can tell you is... When promoting has been done wherever I work, morale always seems to  increase (or at least not get any worse, it always lowers when a manager is hired when there are capable people already on the staff who deserve it some people even quit), and you have the added benefits of already knowing your employee (their dependability/reliability demeanor and how they work with others) and they already are familiar with the company and probably even some aspects of their new position.
