Question:

What sort of memory should I buy for my PC?

I'm a bit confused about memory, and which type I should get for my PC. Is there a maximum speed my PC will take? And apparently there's something call CAS or latency that I need to take into account.

I have an Asus P5LD2 SE motherboard and a P4 945 3.4ghz processor. I currently have 2 x 1GB DDR667 ram, and I'd like to upgrade it to 4GB of the fastest memory my PC will take.

If anyone could give me any pointers I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers.

  1. ddr667 how many available slots only 2? if so you will need 2 gb sticks of the ddr667 Random Access Memory

  2. putting more memory wont hurt your computer at all (if there is a proper power supply). more memory is better. and there is absolutely no limit to how much RAM is enough but your computer wont take it at a certain point (due to processor limits and all). 4 gb is great. go with the type that u currently have. rememberr the bottom line: MORE memory bigger the programs you can runsimultaneouslyy.

  3. You can go to http://www.crucial.com and use their memory advisor to find out what kind of RAM (memory) your computer needs. They can even test your system and tell you what you need and have in the computer (each slot).

You can get cheap memory at http://www.newegg.com or http://www.tigerdirect.com
