I am travelling to South America from New Zealand. Can anyone tell me what sort of power plugs are used and whether I can simply get an adapter and use my NZ appliances?

  1. Almost all countries in south america use US Style plugs and current. Try this for more clarity.

  2. if you have ever been to the US, South america has the other kind. I can't think of what it is called right now and the condo I stayed in, in Peru, already had converters when I arrived.

If you do a lot of international traveling, it's a good idea to invest in a converter.

  3. I recommend you to buy a universal converter which you can find it in any international airport. In South America they use a form very diferent to the US, an a very similar form used in Spain and Portugal.
