  1. Are you 18?

Do you have a High School GED?

    Welcome. :)

It's not that hard. They give you an amount to fill. Open the hole. Stick the hose in the hole. Sit and wait. Take it out of the hole. Go to a different plane and repeat.

    Cheers!

  2. Well a non-smoker would be tops on my list

  3. Walt554, you're killing me!!!  :)

Should be the first question asked to a potential new hire.

  4. It says that your question is a Canadian question, so I will discuss the Canadian requirements.

In Canada, aircraft refuelers work for ground servicing companies at the major airports and/or FBOs (Fixed Based Operators). The ground servicing / fuel companies usually specialize in providing fuel to the larger airliners while FBOs usually provide fuel to the smaller general aviation aircraft and business jets. There is a lot of overlap though, so sometimes FBO will also provide fuel for larger airlines and vice versa.

There is not a specific course in school that one can take to be an aircraft fueler. There are a few requirements however. Prior to being hired, you must have a Driver's Licence and be able to pass a background check to obtain a Restricted Area Pass which will allow you onto the tarmac and other restricted areas at an airport. So if you have a criminal record or spent time in select countries that you cannot account for, that may be difficult.

Next, most companies will want you to have your Truck Licence (most provinces call this a Class 3 Licence - but it can vary) with air brake endorsement. The FBO that I used to work at allowed new hires a grace period to go out and get that licence, but it was certainly good to have to help you get hired.

Once you get hired, you will have to take company specific training and obtain an airport vehicle operators licence. The company specific training varies by company but usually isn't that difficult, just goes over diferent procedures and what to do in an emergency. The airport vehicle operators permit, depending on what airport you're at can either be very easy for a small airport, or at a larger airport like Toronto Pearson Airport, will require you to do a rather intense written and driving test.

    Hope this helps!

  5. if you're working for an airline then you must be A&P either unlicensed or licensed to do refueling. You must only have completed a ground handling/servicing course of that particular aircraft.

Now if you mean the one who drives the bowser (fuel truck) you just plug the hose on the fuel coupling in Dubai, were the ones who connect the hose to the fuel coupling, all you do is show the purity of the fuel to us and gives us the specific gravity for that particular time of day.

  6. walk, speak english, know basic math.

  7. There are 2 kinds of refueler. 1.) is the one who drives the fuel tank/pump truck and connects the fuel line to the aircraft fueling port. who is usually a petroleum company employee. 2.) is the one who actually has the final fuel amount, and distributes the amount in the different fuel copartments or tanks (especially in early aircraft) in an aircraft/airliner. these people actually has to be an A & P licensed mechanic or supervised by an  A & P licensed mechanic with rating or ground handling training specific to that aircraft. They also prepare the fuel sheet to be signed by the flight crew.
