What sort of regular/annual maintenance is required for a residential steel roof?

I'm considering installing one and have heard from some folks that there is maintenance involved.

did the "some folks" tell you how long they were supposed to last.  My last 100 yr old house, I had one, and yes after 100 yrs I painted it.  Did it leak, no, did it show damage, no.  As with all roofs, a yearly walk on is not a bad idea.  Do all folks do it, no.  Go for the steel roof.

Mine has been on since 1983 and it looks like it was put on yesterday. I installed it myself, the screws had neoprene washers on them. never had a leak. I think the house will rot out from under that roof, no time soon. I have not done any thing to it since install.

I used to sell steel roofing and I've never heard of maint involved with it. Was always maint free is why most people went with it.

If you are using like a polebarn steel with all the ribs, you may need to silicone the s***w/nail holes but the seamless steel roofing should be maint free.
