According to the die-bahn.com booking site a reservation is needed even for the IC trains in Italy. Is there a way to to just make a reservation and pay the supplement without buying a full ticket? I've been using this site, but so far have only figured out how to buy a full ticket:

http://www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html

I'm specifically looking at taking the ICN 774 Marco Polo train on the evening of thursday the 26th. I would like to make the reservation for a seat or even for a couchette if it is not too expensive, but as I said I have only figured out how to make a full reservation and not just the supplement payment a Eurail Pass holder must pay. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. reservatin, exept for the ultrafast trains is 3 euro.

It's not mandatory on IC trains, it is on ICN, as it is a night tain or you'll have nowhere to sleep.

Ask at the thicket booth or the silly thicket machine

  2. You can book the supplement only at the ticket windows in the station, but not on the website for Italian trains.

You can do this at: http://www.railkey.com/tickets/default.a... though. If you enter the data for your trip, youll be given the option for full tickets or reservation only.
