Question:

What sort of things can I build/ dismantle around the house?

I mean electrical or mechanical domestic objects that will be easy to dismantle and reassemble, and maybe even upgrade, within the comfort of my own home with a couple of tools. I was never a practical person but I recently won a small but quality tool kit in a local raffle and really want to get stuck into how things work- even if I am not longer a child!

Thanks.

  1. l would start with something simple like a chain saw or a moter cycle in the living room and dismantle the carbs on the kitchen table  there are lots of small quality parts there  and remember to get a cardbourd box to put the parts in as you won't do this all in one night , once you have that all together again l would start on the family car and see how that ticks...and if you are still married after that then l would head down stairs to the basement and start on the furnace ... good luck you will need it

  2. Start with your car. Changing oil, filters, lube job, and work up from there.

There is a big difference between mechanical, and electrical.

  3. A toaster?

How about a lamp? dont get electricuted

  4. A good thing to start with is stuff that is already broken.  You might fix it, you might not.  Somethings are tricky to take apart without damaging the item.

If electrical unplug it first.  Once apart you try to determine how it should have worked to find the defect.

  5. That's a great ambition! As you learn DIY fixing things, you'll develop skills and a feeling of accomplishment. Plus, you'll save money!
