What sort of underwear is good to wear under shorts on the beach to swim or just exercise around?

If you're going to swim then don't wear underwear, but if you want to wear something underneath wear a speedo because it's like underwear and it is water proof.

most bathing suits have built in undies...you could always get some compresion shorts from a sports store..they breathe well and are designed to dry quick

get a pair of running shorts at any sports store, they have the underwear inside.  they match so no one ever sees anything. they are way more comfortable for being active ,  beach or not.
