... Including loading and unloading in a marina ramp. Can something like a Toyota FJ Cruiser do the job?

  1. Something bigger than the Toy>Not good to tow more weight than your towing with>

  2. Sorry, Your FJ can't do it. Check your owners manual for towing capacities.  A 23' powerboat is going to weigh in at at least 5000 lbs. total package weight.  You want excess power at the ramp as well.  Not "adequate power"  I would also highly recommend 4 wheel drive.  I have seen a lot of guys struggle at the ramps because they don't have the right equipment.  I have a 20' deck boat and Chevy Avalanche 4x4.

  3. I do it with my extended cab 4x4 silverado, no problems.  Keep in mind your truck should have a tranny cooler (if it has a towing package it should have it.)  An FJ cruiser should be able to do it, but make sure the trailer has working brakes. Stopping power is actually your main concern.  Generally you can check towing capacity specs on the website for whatever truck you are considering and compare it to the weight specs for the boat.

Launching shouldn't be an issue unless you suddenly realize you left the plug out and it's taken on alot of water.

  4. Half-ton pickup with a towing package would do it.  Expedition, Suburban, have to look up the FJC capacity.  It's the rear axle ratio is what gets ya up the ramp.  ;)

  5. i dont no that model but if its a truck and has a hitch and eletric for the trailer  why knot
