What sorts of interesting things can you listen to on a radio scanner ranging from 100khz to 3ghz?

i would like to know what interesting things i could pick up and the range the canner would go ( range as in how far across thye country) sorry i am new to the hobby but want to buy a decent scanner

You can listen to internationl sites.If you have a good scanner .My friend is in the radio ham club.

depends where in the world you are what type a scanner your looking into buying are you planing on butting a out door aerial for it on the scanner you after a mobile or home base scanner

So really all you can get now is taxis and lorry drivers cb's
