I live in an apartment and would like to buy something beautiful but pot-friendly. Any ideas would be great, thanks!

  1. Pothos (AKA: philodendron, devil's ivy) is a beautiful vine with variegated, heart-shaped leaves.  I have a pothos that has been potted for more than ten years.  It only needs to be watered (soaked) once a week, fertilized lightly (once every three months) and re-potted/divided as necessary (years).  In sunny spots it will grow vigorously, but it grows great in low light.  Mine's been hanging (from a macrame' sling, for heaven's sake), but they grow great up a topiary pole, too.

  2. These three are extremely easy to care for and will last for years in a pot:

    Spathiphyllum (peace lily)

    Sansevieria
