Um, if you are real close to a bomb going off...you don't hear a thing. You feel the blast and the world suddenly gets completely silent because your hearing is temporarily gone.

I wouldnt neccesarily write anything like BOOM, Id probably describe how loud it was or the impact it had. I think that would be more effective Try using a metaphore or simile
