They make a variety sounds from grunts to roars. They are also able to make  high pitched calls to communicate with the rest of the group.

You may think  a hippo is a cute looking animal that is harmless, but you are dead wrong. They have been known to sink small boats and kill many people that cross their paths. Their only true enemy besides  humans, are other hippos. Most animals would not want to mess around with a fully grown hippo patriarch. Their jaws could stretch up to four feet wide. They can grow up to thirteen feet long. The males can weigh around 3,300–4,000 lbs and the females can way around 2,900–3,300 lbs.
