What sound package should I get for my Ford Ranger?

In time I want to get a really nice sound package to really bump some music in my truck.

A friend of mine has had subs and an amp behind his seat before.. so I know that it will fit.

It's a 1988 Ford Ranger XLT.

Any suggestions? I am looking to spend less than $500
