What sounds do you hear?

Given the area/location in which you live...what are some of the sounds or noises that are typical for your location?

I live in the inner city, so 5 minutes doesn't go by without hearing a police, ambulance, or fire engine siren. Also, there are many nightclubs near by, so drunken yelling, fights, and late night chatter is also common in the wee hours of the morning.

What sounds do you hear where you live?

  1. I live it in Detroit so here is the sounds i do hear

    1. Fire truck sirens

    2. Ambulances

    3. Kicker Boxes

    4. Police car sirens

    5. Trains

  2. I see where your coming from Smiley: I live in Winnipeg in the West End, William and Isabel.

a block and a half down William is the #1 fire department: 3 blocks past that is the main police station: then a block to the west of me is the #1 hospital, Health Science. And I live next door to 7-11 where the police stop all the time between shifts.

I'm surrounded by crack houses and run down rooming houses. In this area alone we have had close to 20 murders all ready this year. So it is not stretching the truth when I say I hear the police, fire department and ambulance hundred's of times a day or night.

    Take Care

  3. That's a nice question.I suppose noises, apart from playing a role to your everyday mood, could also have something to do with shaping your personality if you grew up in a specific place.

I also live downtown, and in an apartment in a block of flats exactly above more than a couple of taverns and restaurants,so it's very noisy at night. There's also a school down there so I in the morning I can hear the bell ringing and the children shouting(it's a primary school). The church that's also within touching distance from my house, makes itself heard(the bell tolls every morning, and at 9 on Sundays). From time to time,I also hear (and see,for that matter,on my balcony)the pigeons.

    It's pretty noisy,but I like it-I never feel lonely.

  4. i live in washington d.c.

im in my apartment eating lunch, and the sounds i hear are the cars (even though i'm on the 15th floor), the humidifyer, and the tyra show.

  5. I live in a remote place even though it is still considered suburban area. We have a large garden and planted hundreds of trees so the micro climate attracted so many birds and little animals.

There are all sorts of birds singing and fighting all the time..We even have some woodpeckers recently. There are squirrels and mice ( always on the brink of extinction due to my cats LOL) and some falcons as well who come to hunt them.

Once in a while helicopters fly by, but aside from that it is an amazingly peaceful place.

  6. I live in an older neighborhood in Southwestern Ohio. On any given day, I can hear the nearest fire department on a run, trains running through the town, kids playing basketball directly across from my house, and my dog barking his fool head off at those same kids.

I used to live on a hill and on Sunday mornings I could hear the sound of drag racing at a track about ten miles away. It echoed up the river valley and reached my ears. My wife didn't believe it until I made her listen one morning and she could hear it to.

Good to see you back asking questions again Smiley.

  7. I live half a block away from a fire department, so I hear a lot of sirens.  I also live in an apartment so there are all sorts of noises associated with that...people talking, tvs stereos, kids crying, kids laughing and every once in awhile over all that you can hear a bird or two chirping.

  8. I live less than a half mile from the center of a city with a population of about 100K so sirens are pretty common in my area too.

I don't have any clubs or bars near my home though.

I hear a lot is traffic because I live on a street that is pretty popular.

The only other thing I hear often is the Medflight helicopter because I live right behind the major hospital for my area.

  9. I live in new orleans

    U hear police sirons

    People yelling

    Cars honking

    Music playing

    and other typical noises

  10. i live on LI in brentwood....nothinq but an icecream truck
