  1. may be or may be not but rocket racing is future, tbl, space vehicles with speed of light

  2. Thats a hard question to answer. I think that we NEED to make our space ships a whole lot faster, and a whole lot more durable. I think the key to a good space program is having a highly advanced durable vehicle. One time use vehicles get the job done once. Then we have to spend millions more to develop another vehicle. True, making a reusable device would cost more than a one-time-use, but in the long run it would cost a lot less. NASA's space shuttles didn't work out so well. Two space shuttles went down, killing astronauts. NASA's shuttles had many flaws, and were surprisingly technologically simple... I've read a couple articles describing the space shuttles, and showed that they weren't state of the art for their time. I'm also not so impressed with NASA's new plans to replace the shuttles.

  3. Nuclear propulsion!

  4. I don't want to sound like a pessimist here, but after around another 40 years max there will be no Earth anyway as it will have been completely destroyed with all life on it.

    Cheers !

  5. A space elevator (elevator that takes people up into space)

A space sled (use magnetics and slingshot technology to launch sled into space at an inexpensive cost ... as low as $100)

Terraforming (making planets' atmospheres such as Mars like that to Earth for tourism)

  6. a hybrid shuttle that gets good gas mileage

  7. We should certainly have telescopes capable of detecting the light from Earth-like planets in the next twenty years or so. The Terrestrial Planet Finder was shelved, I believe, due to costs. Hopefully a new administration will overrule this decision.

Also, I agree that we need better, faster means of travelling to places such as Mars if we are ever going to establish manned colonies there. I would like to see advances in propulsion technology, perhaps in the form of fusion drives.
