1.what if tyson didn't go to jail fo r3 years what would have happen. Do yo think he would have beaten bowe, holyfield and lennox. I don't see him beating either one of them at all. I think losing to douglas made his mystique less fearful and would have had a fight against all three that would have left him 0-3. what do you guys think.

2. What if the sanctioning bodies all unified into 2 camps. The IBF-WBA and the WBC-WBO? do you think that it is good or bad for boxing.

  1. Very good question

  2. i think Tyson's best chance would have been against Bowe but i think Bowe would have stopped him in about round 10 Bowe had immense power which was underrated and he also had a great chin which he proved in a number of his fights although he had ben ko'd but he wouldn't be intimidated by tyson and he would beat him to the punch and Tyson would be confused by that as he always was. Holyfield would have just out classed Tyson at whatever Tyson tried and probably would have stopped him even faster than Bowe and the Lewis one would have been just the same as it was when it happened Lewis would have been his least likely to win Lewis was just to big to strong to well skilled and to power full Lewis was at his worst when he faced tyson and Tyson had give up by the end of the first round when he realized he couldn't get near him and i also believe if Tyson hadn't of gone to jail he'd have had a number of loses before facing any of them and that may have resulted in maybe even worst results for Tyson as non of them would have been as cautious and would of stepped up the pace and probably have stopped him in no time and anything that would cut down the number of different titles would be better in my opinion but more belts gives more boxers a chance of gaining a title so it does have some good points

  3. It would be great, so that a champion of the WBA and WBC would have to faced tougher opponent.

  4. He would have lost to all of them. Bowe would have been his easiest fight but I think Bowe takes him out in about 7 rounds.

Less is better --- the fewer sanctioning bodies the better it is for boxing.

  5. I think Mike Tyson would destroy holyfield and bowe. The reason why was because he was still fast and still hit hard as h**l.the mike tyson that holyfield beat was old and slow.he was a shell of his former self and as far as bowe is conserned he would have been knocked out early.he was always out of shape and he was slow.tyson would have dominated him.the only one that could have beaten tyson was maybe lennox lewis.because he was so big.but eather way a young mike tyson could beat all 3.

I think they should unify all the belts in to 1 belt that way we have 1 champ like in the old days when boxing was better

  6. Prison is not what hurt Mike Tyson, management and poor inexperienced trainers hurt Mike Tyson.

After Cus DaMatto died Tyson had lost his mentor, the one man who could get through to Tyson. After Jimmy Jacobs died Tyson had no more loyalty to Bill Clayton or Kevin Rooney, Rooney and Tyson always had a rocky career.

Once Tyson married Robin Givens, her and her mother tried to get control of Tysons money and management. Don King came in shortly after and after Tyson and Robin separated King took complete control of Tyson's career and put him with new trainer Aaron Snowell, who was inexperienced and just a thug for King.

One thing King and Snowell did not realize is the system of numbers and letters Rooney and Tyson had worked out. Rooney could see an opening on the opponent and yell out something like A 3!! and Tyson would immediately throw the corresponding punch. If Rooney could see that the opponents right hand was low he might yell "B2" and Tyson would immediately fire with a left hook.

Tyson fired Rooney shortly before the Douglas fight and you seen what happened. An inexperienced training camp, an inexperienced trainer led to Tysons down fall.

After the departure of Rooney King realized that Tyson was not going to be as effective without him so King started giving Tyson easier fights, and after prison even easier and on a few occasions even set ups like McNealy, Seldon, Mathis,Neilson.

If Tyson had stayed with Rooney and Bill Clayton he may well have still been undefeated and super super rich.

But I still think at any time Evander would beat Tyson as would Lewis. Tyson would have mowed down Bowe.

As for the sanctioning bodies, I think fighters should start throwing them in the garbage once they get them and start recognizing the Ring Magazine belt as the true belt. They have proven themselves to be honorable and have always picked the right guy. Like right now they have Klitchko as the champion...I cant argue with that right now.

The strategy that Holyfield used to beat Tyson would have worked against Tyson at any stage in his career. He kept the jab in Tysons face and when Tyson did rush in Holyfield stepped back and fired an uppercut or a hook then clinched. In the clinches Evander landed to the body and whenever Tyson did miss Holyfield nailed him with body shots. It was the perfect blueprint and by round 6 Tyson was gassed and went down from a light punch on his shoulder. Holyfield counter punched Tyson all night. And when Tyson did land big shots Evander took them and fired right back which took out Tyson's will as well.

Could having Rooney in his corner yelling out combo's have helped against Holyfield? Maybe, but I don't so because Holyfield waited on Mike to throw firs then countered and was always just out of reach of Tyson's shots.

Lennox was just too big, and he basically followed the Holyfield blueprint, jab jab, counter, and hold when Tyson gets inside, push him back tire him out and repeat until you can Ko a tired and frustrated Tyson. With good trainers he may have been able to change up his style, but the guys he had really did not know what to do with him.

That is the reason I pick thinking/smart fighters like Ali,Lewis,Holyfield,Foreman (90's) and Holmes, they all had good trainers who would follow the same blueprint for beating Iron Mike.

  7. i think that holyfield would have beaten tyson if they had met in '90, '92 or '94.

lewis would beaten tyson too, but tyson has a punchers chance against the lewis who was twice surprised in his career.

since tyson had more power than holyfield, i believe he would have overcome bowe and stop him in the mid to late rounds.

but this would all depend on tyson's discipline and mental state.

  8. 1. Mike Tyson probably would not have defeated any of the three you listed as his skills were rapidly diminishing. His best chance was against Bowe who had motivation issues. If you are able to watch his fights after he defeated Michael Spinks, and even a little prior, you can see him try to load up and knock people out with one punch without head movement and cominations. Once Tyson dropped Kevin Rooney and Bill Cayton from his "team" he had no one to help balance his life and career. Don King let him run wild while he sucked him dry and let him waste his talent.

    2. The fewer the sanctioning bodies the better. The biggest gripe I get from casual fans or non-fans is that there are too many champions and it is too hard to keep up. It would be nice if champions denounced their titles and fought only for the Ring title, which does not charge fees, make mandatories or any of the off the wall decisions the alphabet bodies do, but that would cost them money.
