What <span title="bands/artists/songs/albums">bands/artists/songs/album...</span> were so overrated that they are now underrated?

That’s how I feel about Stairway to Heaven... it got so overplayed, and everyone started calling it the greatest song ever, and now people are saying it’s not even in Led Zeppelin’s 20 greatest songs. I think they’re so used to saying how overrated it is that they forget that it is a really great song. If it hadn’t been overplayed, people would be probably be talking about how underrated it is.

So what do you feel that way about?

Nirvana is one of those overrated bands who have become &quot;an average band&quot;. Maybe they weren&#039;t the best, but they can&#039;t be only &quot;an average band&quot; if they are so popular... I agree with Stairway to Heaven too. Smells Like Teen Spirit also got underrated in my opinion.

i asked a question like this a while ago, i would go dig it up for you but i&#039;m too lazy lol

the example i used in that question was smells like teen spirit by nirvana...a lot of people, especially nirvana fans, like to say that they have a ton of better work and that this is one of their worst, but i am not afraid to say that it is my favorite nirvana song, i think the song is the pinnacle of kurt&#039;s songwriting work in general, it is a perfect mirror for the angst and frustration that so much of the band&#039;s work represented...nirvana is also a good example in terms of a band, they were extremely popular right up to kurt&#039;s death, and once people really had a chance to examine their work they looked back on the popularity that nirvana had and declared them &quot;overrated&quot;, totally ignoring their actual body of work

I think Breaking Benjamin is underrated.

Yeah they have Diary of Jane, So Cold, Breath, and Sooner of Later that are heard on the radio once in a while, but they&#039;re second-last CD, We Are Not Alone, was awesome. Really the whole CD was filled with potential singles. Same w/ their first CD and their latest one, there&#039;s so many more songs that are potential &quot;hits&quot;.

I think the beatles album beatles for sale is underrated and it was overrated to begin with.

OMG! I kissed a girl by katy perry...and no i will not capitalize her name...i don&#039;t respect her enough...and for artists i think the jonas brothers!! for sure!! and it&#039;s really annoying bc they suck really bad! :(((

After the whole everything died down, I believe Hootie &amp; the Blowfish&#039;s Cracked Rear View stands as a great rock album with some classic cuts.

Peace Sells by Megadeth got massive airplay and people got sick of it but it is still a classic!!

I feel that way about Iron Man from black sabbath. Because of the movie everyone is all crazy for the song.  But i think it died out . Pity, cuz its a really good song but i dont think its black sabbath&#039;s best.

Red Hot Chili Peppers &quot;Blood s*x Sugar Magik&quot; album is the most underatred album to date. John Frusciante is one of the best guitarist/songwriters of all time. Flea, Anthony and Chad. Dynomite!!!!
