Actually many primates are affected by the Ebola virus & it tends to kill them very rapidly, thus limiting the spread of the virus.  However, we've found that bats can carry this virus without it having obvious ill effects on them.  I should indicate that the Ebola virus has at least 4 strains that appear in jungle areas of Asia, the Philippines & even the rain forests of South America.  The most deadly strain is the one occuring in Central Africa that kills up to 80% of those infected, but all can be deadly.
