  1. its an arachnid and its also highly venomous! The reason its harmless to humans is simply that its fangs are so small that it cant penetrate human skin.

  2. daddy long legs is a friendly term . technically its called a crane-fly

  3. There are three different critters called "daddy long legs".

Harvestmen (Arachnid Order Opiliones), Cellar spiders (Spider Family Pholcidae), and Crane flies (Insect Family Tipulidae).  Common names of bugs can be very confusing.

Also, only one of the three has venom, and that's the true spider "Cellar Spider".  The venom of the cellar spider is rather weak to humans, and they can bite, despite the myth.

So I guess then the answer is "both".

  4. daddy long legs can refer to 3 different species; a crane fly, a harvestman, or a cellar spider. It's usually meant for the crane fly, but I suppose it's both!

  5. The flying ones are crane flies, the insects.

The flimsy ones that make spiderweb in your bathroom are spiders.

  6. the proper name for a daddy long legs is a crane flie, and its an insect :)

  7. spider

  8. They have 6 legs, so they are insects.

  9. its a crane fly  and thats it have a nice bank holiday

  10. Daddy long legs can be referred all of the followings:

Crane fly (Tipulidae) (in U.K. English), an insect

Harvestman (Opiliones) (in North American English), an arachnid, but not a spider

Cellar spider (Pholcidae) (esp. in Australian/New Zealand English, but also North American English and U.K English), a true spider

    Especially applied to Pholcus phalangioides

  11. It is the common name for a spider, the cellar spider, for an arachnid, the harvestman, and for a crane fly. The crane fly term is mainly a UK version, the spider is both American and UK.
