  1. Tere are different species of sea cucumbers, f.e.:

    Californian sea cucumber, Parastichopus californicus

    taxonomy:

    Domain Eukarya

    Kingdom Animalia

    Phylum Echinodermata

    Class Holothuroidea

    Order Aspidochirotida

    Family Stichopodidae

    Genus Parastichopus

    Species californicus

    Common Name: California Sea Cucumber

    Orange Sea Cucumber, Cucumaria miniata

Impatient Sea Cucumber, Sea Cucumber, Holothuria impatiens

  2. Sea cucumbers are animals, not plants -- they're related to starfish.  And there are a number of them, so you really can't specify a single species.

They are holothurians, members of class Holothuriodae

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_cucumbe... and found in various subclasses and families in the class.  The zoologists (animal specialists) will probably be more useful to you on this than we botanists (plant specialists).
