I'm not saying the bird can't make any noises at all. Just something that tends to be on the quieter side. I do not want a budgie, so that's out of the question. I wanted a dove, but people said they smell terrible if you don't clean their cages every day.

  1. finches are not noisy at all, and come in many varieties, they sound like the bird you want

  2. AVOID CONURES!!!

They scream in the morning and at sun down.  Not because they're angry, it's territorial behavior.  ALL conures are loud.  Some not as bad as others, but ALL of them scream.  Don't let anyone tell you they don't!  They're excellent pets, sweet, fun and cuddly.  Just LOUD!!!

    Good candidates:

Cockatiels  (Perfect for a beginner.  They're sweet, intellegent and quiet when treated well.)

    Lovebirds

    Parrotlets.

Doves are no smellier than other birds.  They're not as interactive either.  They'll let you hold them, but they won't seek your companionship like the other birds will.

The larger the bird, the more intellegent it is.

The largest parrots and cocktoos are as smart as children, an need as much time, attention, stimulation, and interaction as a pre-schooler.

  3. Doves are quieter, and I haven't experienced them being more smelly than any other birds. You don't need to clean their cages every single day, but a daily spot-cleaning  and weekly cleaning will keep them smelling OK. You'd have to do that with any bird.

  4. I have had dozens of species of birds.  Some are fun, but loud.  Some are easy going, but boring.  The ones that are very interesting need lots of attention and veterinary care.

My favorite pet bird is a cockatiel, but they are not "quiet."  What's best for you depends on your tastes, but I think Spice Finches might be the perfect quiet bird.

A spice finch is almost totally silent.  The male bird makes a very faint twitter, and the female makes no sound at all.

They are tiny birds, and will be happy in a relatively small cage.  They don't eat much, and so they don't p**p much.  Less p**p means less smell. (That's why a dove smells, they make tons of p**p.)

My favorite thing about them is they get along.  They are peaceful.  In a year, I have never seen my spice finches pick on each other, ever.  In contrast for example, male zebra finches are nasty to everyone in the cage and pick on each other constantly.

My wife actually takes a pair of spice finches to work with her every single day.  (Actually, they go in on Monday, and come home Friday.)  She works in a business office, and nobody has ever complained.  *That's* how quiet they are.

Don't expect them to sit on your finger.  They aren't that kind of bird.  And you will probably never get them to mate.  But they are sweet, quiet little birds.

  5. Canary! They are a beautiful little Bird with less noise!

  6. Well do you mean likea house pet?

I have parakeet  and he tends to be quiet. sometimes he does make noise but they are tweep and chrips NOT  shreaks.

i hope this helps and i hope you are happy with w/e bird you get.

  7. Check out the parrotlet. They don't screech or make any really bad noise. Also a very cute little bird.

  8. bluefront Amazon

  9. parrotlets cant scream most popular is the pacific around 5inches long, you need to clean bird cages daily(change the paper) and you should wip it down once a week and once a month take everything apart and clean it well
