  1. The History Channel did a show on this in 2003 called 'The Future Is Wild". They had squid as the next "caveman" type species.


  2. The closest related species to humans in brain intellect and size would probably something of the gorilla, ape, or baboon family. I wouldn't know how evolution would finally release humans from this cycle but from the very assumption, based on my prior knowledge of evolution, I think apes probably.

    they're basically like us, except much more hairy, but have lots of communication symbols and leadership; they learn too
