Question:

What specific paperwork & number of copies do I need to renew the registration for my Mexican cars, in Mexico?

I've got two cars in San Jose del Cabo. I registered them almost exactly a year ago, and it's been a long year. I've been unable to track down the precise paperwork needed to renew the registration. I had a list and remember it was roughly 4 or 5 things and multiple copies, but I cannot remember specifics. Anyone know? Any ideas on the costs? Also, when I first registered them, they took photos of the cars, so the cars needed to be at the station. For renewals, do they? TIA!

  1. go to the offie

  2. I live in Mexico, but do not have a Mexican pltated car, but may be able to help a little. The "transito" are the traffic police you see directing traffic..they are completley separarate from the regular police..  You need  to find out where their office is and go there.  Somene suggested you take a Mexican with you..that is an excellent idea.  Don't you have any Mexican friends there?  A Mexican friend who owns a car that is registered there would be your best source of help...could tell you what to do and go with you if you do not speak Spansih well.  Gov't offices never have copy machines, so anything you need a copy of, you must take to a copy store. Every gov't office has 2 or 3 copy stores within a block of it.  Truly...the best help you can find is to ask a Mexican friend.  Then when you get it figured out this time.  write complete directions down in a small notebook and keep that book in the glove compartment to use each year.  I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT WELL FOR YOU.

  3. You will have to be a little more specific.

    You had both vehicles plated?

    Tansito should help you there.

Don t panic give the cop 50-100 pesos if you have a problem.

Take a Mexican to the transit office.

    They have copy machines.

    Give precise details Gringito
