  1. The average is different for everyone because they need to feel comfortable. Personally, I was afraid to break 20 mph my first few times down the street of my house.

I would recommend you have your driving instructor take you to an empty parking lot a try and few different speeds, turns, and breaking techniques so you get use to the feel of the car. Going from there, you'll know what to expect once your ready to hit the road.

    Good luck!

  2. A friend of mine went 50 in her first lesson!

    I was shocked at that

I went 30 at the most, maybe slower.

  3. Very slowly.

  4. About 25 to 30 MPH

  5. Usually as fast as you're comfortable with, and certainly not above 30mph.

  6. The speed you're comfortable going (usually slower than other people), but don't let motorists who ignore the fact that you're a new driver deter you (e.g. if they tailgate you or start honking... Then again they probably are too blind to not notice "student driver" and shouldn't be driving MUAHAHA). Then as you familiarize yourself with driving, feel free to go the speed limit.

  7. I am an instructor, if the first lesson is 2 hours then with me you would be doing about 50 mph as long as YOU felt comftable with it. Don't be in a rush to drive at speed, driving safely is what you need to learn.

  8. Probably not more than 30mph, but in theory could go up to 60mph.

  9. usually 30 unless signpost says different

  10. No more than the posted speed limit

  11. Depends on the person taking the lesson!

I would say the majority of pupils don't go above 30mph as usually on the first lesson, we drive around an nice quiet housing estate practising left and right turns, moving off and stopping.

I have had people who I have been unable to take above 10 mph - this is mainly due to them needing to be told about 14 times to steer away from an obstruction!

On the other hand, I have had a few pupils who I have ended up taking down the dual carriageway on the first lesson - very very few pupils like this though!

  12. I would say 20 - 25 MPH. at least that is what I did when I first drove on the road. However it does not take long to get up to speed unless you are not very coordinated.

  13. lol my brother started actually driving on the highway on his first lesson so he went like from 60 to 70.
