  1. These are my ingredients for curry chicken:

    fresh chicken

    fresh ginger

    bay leaves

    curry powder

    onion

    coconut milk

    salt

    potato

    chili powder or fresh chili

tapioca flour mixed with a little water to thicken up the sauce

  2. The easiest to use if you can get it would be Patak's curry pastes. (Buy the curry paste NOT the curry sauces because you can make 4 times as much with the paste!) As someone suggested the Madras is excellent but a bit hot. If you don't want it hot the use the "Mild" paste. I suugest Patak's because although I usually make my own blends, I love Patak's more than any other (I also like not having to do all that work!)

If you want it really special, add in a half cup of sour cream or yogurt and two tablespoons of ground toasted almonds about 15 minutes before the end of cooking...............

  3. I usually don't add to much dry masalas in my curry just the garam masala. take hot oil in a wok, then add cumin seeds when they splutter add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste.when brown add tomatoes, one spoon of yogurt and add garam masala.Add chicken and cook till chicken is done.

    Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

    Enjoy!

  4. Seriously, I would buy a curry paste such as Madras for MUCH better results than a curry powder. The combination will already have the necessary oil and spices in a good combination.

They also have a recipe on the side that tells you what to do. It's cheating a tiny bit but it's the only way I can make a decent curry.

  5. cumin seeds

    onions

    tomatoes

    ginger/garlic paste

    bit of youghrt

    bit chili pdr

    bit turmic pdr

    bit of garm masala

    salt to taste

    chicken (either boneless/with bones)

    little water

    calantor for garnishing

youghrt with help to make the sauce lit think and creamy. i wouldnt recommend adding coconut milk b4 afetr finished eating i wasnt feeling good (meant it didnt taste good).

  6. normally different indian family have their combination of spices to make curry powder. By ready combined curry powder or paste if avaliable.

Most recipes and producers of curry powder usually include coriander, turmeric, cumin, and fenugreek in their blends. Depending on the recipe, additional ingredients such as ginger, garlic, fennel seed, cinnamon, clove, mustard seed, green cardamom, black cardamom, mace, nutmeg, red pepper, long pepper, and black pepper may also be added.

i have found a recipe for Mild Curry Powder see site

    To cook Curry chicken :

    Curry powder or paste

    Ginger, minced

    Onion, diced

    Chicken, cut into large pieces

    potatoes, cubes

Coconut milk or milk(full cream or low fat)

    oil or butter

    salt to taste

    1. marinate the chicken pieces in some curry powder or paste for 30 minutes.

    2. Heat some oil in a deep pan, add in the minced ginger and diced onion, stir fry till fragrant.

    3. add chicken pieces, stir fry for 3 - 4 minutes,

    4. add the rest of the curry powder or paste and milk stir until evenly mixed.

    5. add potatoes cubes, bring the pot of mixture to the boil, cover, lower the heat.

    6. Simmer for 30minutes,stir every now and then to prevent burning and sticking to the pot. Add salt to taste(some curry paste has added salt therefore try your curry before adding any salt)
