I'm want to start a club sport at my university this fall. I'm healthy and pretty athletic, but I'm not very "buff" or strong overall (5'10.5" @ 150lbs). I want to participate in one that would help get me into better shape (and mostly gain muscle haha). These are the guys and co-ed club sports offered at my university:

Alpine Club (mountain hiking, glacier climbing, ect.)

Curling

Cycling

Field Hockey

Kayaking

Men's Lacrosse

Racquetball

Cross Country

Kung Fu

Ski Team

Men's Soccer

Tennis

Ultimate Frisbee

Volleyball

Water Polo

Thanks guys.

  1. Cross Country

  2. Kung Fu is da chizzle you'll be able to learn great fighting techniques and be well on your way of being a ninja. Plus no one will mess with you.

  3. water polo

just to note, cross country won't make you "buff"  It will only add lean muscle.

  4. you will gain allot of muscle water skiing my mom holds a state record in Hawaii  for trick skiing in 1979 in jr. girls when she used to water ski she was stronger than all the boys in her school.

  5. ski

  6. Water polo would be my choice.

  7. Well, if you want to build overall body muscle, flexibility and strenght... I would suggest Kung Fu. It is definitely a FULL BODY exercising sport.

I think the alpine club and kayaking will keep your upper body in great shape... clubs/sports like soccer, lacrosse, tennis, and field hockey will help build stamina because of all the running/practices you'll have.

  8. FIELD HOCKEY!!!!!!!!!! I only started field hockey two years ago and it's been awesome!!!!!!!!!! I love it! It's a great work out and has helped keep me in shape but in my first year it wasn't so much that I couldn't take it. I have gained a LOAD of leg muscle with I love from fockey too. plus when other time do you get to say hey I play fockey!

  9. Volleyball is a great workout and a fun team sport. There's some videos of it in the source link if you want to see what playing is like. Good luck with whatever you choose!

  10. ultimate frisbee, its the s h i t

  12. Hey there!

Well in my opinion if you want something that will give you skill long term I'd do men's soccer, because being good at soccer comes in handy quite alot of the time! You don't have to be buff and the great thing is you get better the longer you play.

If you want to get into better shape and gain muscle however I'd recommend swimming. Its the best sport in terms of fitness as you exercise all your main muscle groups at once and work on your breathing at the same time.

    I hope this helps :)

  13. Volleyball takes a lot of arm and leg muscles.

  14. tennis

  15. I would say cycling and field hockey. They both offer great cardio workouts and build muscle in your legs and core.
