I´ve spent the last two months on the back of a honda firebird and it´s turned me off all the cruiser type bikes. What can I say, I love the feel of it! I´m really short, 5,2 and I only weigh seven stone so I need something light, and as low as possible. A friend mentioned an R6 but I need more advice.

  1. go witha 600cc or a 500cc there perfect for a beginner and should be just right the 500cc kawasaki ninjas are small and would be good for you.

  2. You want to separate your choices as much as you can.

Sportbike. Now that means two types.

    Sport tourer, or Supersport?

    A Yamaha R6 is a Supersport. A Yamaha FZ6 is a Sporttourer.

Supersports are faster, and have more aggressive ergonomics.

Sport touring bikes are made for longer trips, and have almost upright ergonomics.

Just go to the dealer and sit on some, ask around.

Buy gear if you buy the bike.

    Take a MSF course. http://www.msf-usa.org

  3. I ride a 2007 ZX-6r and I am teaching my friend how to ride. she is some what short about 5'4. also the ZX-6r is one of the lightest bike in the market. I believe the only bike that comes close to it is R6. you can also get lowering link to drop the bike down by 1 inch. they cost about $50.

  4. Go look around at some dealerships. dont worry about what other people say. make sure its the one you want. but if you want my opinion, aprilia has the best bikes.

  5. i agree a ninja 500 or 250 would be a great beginner bike. im getting a ninja 250r and ive been driving one around and think there great. they have way more power than anything you need. they top out at around 100 mph.

they do have a highish seat height though. i think you can get lowered. the 250 is really a perfect size for me and am not looking for power. im 5"9 140 pds
