Just curious what sports were added each year the Olympics were held. Like what sport was added at the 2000 Sydney Olympics?

  1. Each Olympics some sports are added, some are dropped.  This time, BMX racing and open water swimming was added.  Some sports that used to be in the Olympics include tug-of-war and bowling.  This is scheduled to be the last time for baseball and softball.  Some they might add are rugby and karate.

    More than 10,000 athletes from 199 nations took part in the Sydney Games. Triathlon and tae kwon do were new sports, while other new events included trampolining in gymnastics and a women’s event in modern pentathlon.

  3. Taekwondo was included as an official sport in Sydney 2000. It had previously been held as an exhibition sport.

    In Beijing 2008, the two new sports are BMX cycling and open water swimming.

    This Olympic, they have removed Track cycling 1km to make way for BMX event. So it is very much depending on the host.
