What sprayed out of my golf ball?

i was cutting open one of my golf balls today with a rasor knife just interested on seeing the inside and about a fourth of the way through a big cloud of mist went psssst and shot across my room, it scared me so i put it down on my floor and let all the stuff leak out and it looked yellow, now ive done some research and someone said that the stuff inside was salt water and corn syrup but im still a little skeptical but why is it in there and is it really the mixture i found on the internet?

I ithink you're cutting an old ball. In the old time, Titleist used to make balls with liquid filled core. I've no idea what liquid it is inside, and my strong recommendation is not to drink it, or even taste it. I mean it may be toxic.
