  1. Some states require 20 years while others 25. It's best to check with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles in advance to avoid registration surprises.

  2. Depends on the car and mileage If it has been painted a 2nd time then I would think the car had been wrecked pretty bad

  3. 25 years you can get old timer plates, so you can start from there, paint doesnt matter

  4. What?  This question doesn't make much sense.

My husband and I restore classic cars so I will give you a bit of information in regards to that.

A 'classic' is a vehicle which is over 15-25 years old.

A paint job doesn't change the age of a car but could change the value and showablility.  A quality paint job could mean a first place trophy.  An original paint job which is factory new is rarer for older cars but we redid a couple of Datsun Z's and both paint jobs were great so it was not necessary to change them.

Depending on the state you live in and the age of your vehicle you will find exemptions such as: seat belts are not required in older cars.  Currently our '52 Chevy is exempt.

Smog inspections are also exempt for older vehicles but this also varies from state to state.  Check with your local DMV for this info.

Antique cars are a completely different field and have different qualification's for entry.

  5. I guess the term "old timer" might mean different things to different people, but my guess is that it should be at least 25 years old.

  6. The pharse OLD TIMER, doesn't make sense. If you are talking about a antique, Anything over 25 yrs. old is antique. If you are talking about miles on a car. Try to buy a car, under 70,000miles cause cars develop problems alot of the time around 100,000 -150,000miles. If a car has been in an accident, check to make sure it doesn't have a salvage title or have accident on it's car report.

  7. In some states if a car is over a certain age (I think it's 20 years in Ky.) you can get a "historic motor vehicle" license plate.
