What started the Georgian Conflict?

The one thats going on now. I know before there was a conflict. But I would like to know why now. And who would the U.S back if we were to get involved.

  1. SouthOseita is part of Georgia but a group of rebels (russians) want to be a part of the ex soviet union which ex pres. Putin has been trying to restore .Georgia has become a democracy and friends with the US and the Russians hate it . The Russians have been planning this a long time and now they are invading Geoargia .

    The Russians don't give a d**n about the Georgians and never did. They don't care about the South Ossetians either. The last of their interests is protecting anyone, probably not even their paratroopers.

    This is just the perfect excuse that they've been looking for to diminish Georgia's influence or to outright control part or all of it. Time will tell.

    This conflict has been a long time coming

  3. People of the world. You deceive! World mass media conduct propagation of a false information. Russia DID NOT ATTACK Georgia! 07.08.2008 at 22:00 Georgia has attacked South Ossetia. At 3:30 08.08.2008 tanks of the Georgian armies have entered into city Tskhinvali. Artillery bombardment all the day long proceeded, fights with use of tanks and heavy combat material, both against ossetic armies, and against peace inhabitants were conducted. 1400 civil people already were lost. The Russian peacemakers have arrived to South Ossetia in the evening 08.08.2008 for settlement of the conflict and prompting of the world in republic and protection of the Russian citizens living on territory of South Ossetia. Georgia has attacked South Ossetia on eve of Olympiad, it is top of cruelty and cynicism.     South Ossetia just wanna be independent. Georgia doesn't like it so decided to get what they want with attacking. Russia is standing up for South Ossetia for many reasons.
