What state do I need to contact to get my lost title reissued?

Question

I bought my truck in Missouri but then licensed and registered my truck in Texas. I'm now back in Missouri and my plates are about to expire. I cannot find the title and really I can't remember if I ever had it (they changed the law and you used to not be able to get the title unless there was no lien on the vehicle - now, when you get a new car, you get the title and I bought my truck right during the transition). Anyway, should I contact Texas to try and get the title issued or Missouri?

If its tagged and registered in Texas that is who you need to contact about a lost title................UJN
