TOTAL opposite of People Republic of California and G-d forbid you live behind the Orange Curtain (ie in Orange County)

Also Texas is quite the opposite when it comes to allowing your personal freedom and rights.

Either of those are the opposite in every way, activity, gun laws, etc etc and NH is the opposite in climate and geography

Probably have to put Alaska at the other end of the spectrum.  It is better than California in about every way.

Geographically, Maine, but the western states are much lager than the eastern states, so technically Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Deleware, New Jersey, Conneticut, and even Rhode Island are all good answers for this.

But regarding the best answer you're most likely looking for, I'd say it's Maine.

[EDIT]: Oh, by population? That would be Wyoming in the 50-state region.

And as for the most boring, I'd say Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska or North Dakota. All Idaho is known for are their famous potatos... and potatos are pretty boring things. "Bible Belt" states are generally the most boring ones in general, too.
