  1. probably vt but nh has some really good skiing

  2. For me it's a toss up between VT, NH, and ME.

VT has Mad River Glen and Jay Peak. MRG is great bc it's rugged, ungroomed, w/o "fake" snow and w/o snowboarders. Jay Peak is where you want to go for trees. I guarantee that if you look in the right spots or team up with a local, you'll find untracked snow a week after a storm, but since it storms every couple of days there you won't have to look to hard until late april or so.

NH is nice because there are so many nice day visits within a few hours of Concord. They also have the best deals that I've noticed. For a challenge, grab your Suunto altimeter and head to Wildcat and try and get 50K vertical feet in one day. Or you can go across the road to the shoulder of Mt. Washington and hike up/ ski down Tuckerman's ravine.

ME has Sugarloaf. Imagine the acreage of Killington, but without the glitzy resort town wannabe look or the absolute pain of trying to get from the bottom of one peak to another. That's because Sugarloaf is just one MASSIVE peak with 100's of possible ways down and all but maybe half a dozen of those ways down spit you out at the main lodge area, making it very easy to locate friends and family.

  3. VERMONT yo dude you gotta hit up sugarbush! mad river offers a challenge for novices and is secluded ( all natural snow )  then the other great resorts are - killington, jay peak and stowe

  4. VT is the best as far as I know. Variety and terrain.

NY is terrible. I spent many years skiing there. Gore is the best in NY...for what that's worth.

NH and Maine I haven't skied (except Tuckerman's in NH, which doesn't count).

Mass? Heck no...nothing worthwhile there! (I don't know how to spell that one either)

  5. VERMONT BABY! I live here. I am a ski instructor, I have been to almost every resort here in Vermont. Way different than out west. The snow is still nice. GO TO SUGARBUSH RESORT! Or Jay Peak, Mad River Glen, or Stowe. There is some skiing up in Maine but I wouldn't suggest going anywhere else in New England. Just Vermont! Email me if you have any more questions...

  6. maine the best skiing on the east coast is sunday river buy far!!!

  7. definitely Vermont, you can find alot of stuff up there

such as Stowe i have heard it is phenomenal up there

  8. I think you'll find the most variety in Vermont. Depending what exactly you are looking for would determine where you choose to ski. If you are planning to spend a few days at one resort, then you should look at Jay Peak, Killington or Okemo. If you want to hit a few different places on your trip but stay in the same place, then going for the Stratton-Bromley-Magic combo, or the Sugarbush-Mad River Glen combo wouldn't be a bad option either. Snow-wise, they all tend to vary. Okemo has good snow almost always as does Jay. Stratton does too, but it's almost all groomers. Lots of people like that, but It's not my style. The good slopes at Big-K can be very sketchy as can Mad River Glen. There's a lot of variation among the other places.

I find most NY resorts are good for a day...amybe two days tops, then you get bored. Gore Mtn is the best NY resort in my opinion. You could also do the Windham-Bellarye-Hunter combo and hit all three while staying at the same hotel. I'd skip Whiteface unless you plan to do some backcountry stuff in the other high peaks (but you'll be walking up those mountiains.) Whiteface is always icy unless they get a fresh dump. The Catskill resorts aren't excellent unless it's mid-season and it's been really cold for good snowmaking or natural snow comes in. (Bet on mostly man-made granular.)

Massachuttes has some nice places, but most are small.

I find NH resorts icy...even by east coast standards. Sunapee does have some nice snow usually and the folks there seem to know how to groom well.

Maine is the only place I can't give you 1st hand info about. My friends love Saddleback and I've heard conflicting reports about Sunday River. Having never skied those places, I'm not one to say.

If you have any specific questions about VT or NY please email me. I'll give you the specifics.
