  1. There will always be a demand for educators (both general and special education).  Every state needs teachers, so you can pretty much pick where you want to go.  Do some research about the pay for first year teachers in each state and beware of districts that offer bonuses or stipends for your position.  That is usually an indicator that there may be a problem with staff retention or that the position will be a challenging one.  Besides looking at salary, look at the state's average cost of living (housing, food, entertainment, etc...).  You may get a great salary but it won't be worth a pile of beans if you can barely afford food and housing.  Lastly, you need to find out what the certification requirements are for the state your considering moving to.

In short, the job market is pretty good and you basically have a ticket to anywhere in the U.S.

    Good luck.

  2. every state is in high need of special education teachers.  nationally, it tops the list of teachers needed.  i'm a SPED teacher in milwaukee, and we're crying for them!  i also know hawaii is in dire need...and i had a friend that was hired in texas over the phone he was needed so badly.  they even helped him relocate from minnesota!  in milwaukee though, you have an incredible benefits package (most milwaukee teachers will stay through the district nonsense because the benefits package is so ridiculously good).  you already know your salary will be great, especially with your masters.  so you can pretty much get a ticket to anywhere and you'll have a job!

  3. All areas are in need of teachers that specialize in special education. You can call the school districts in what ever city you plan on moving to and they can give you more information.
