  1. Maryland, mandatory inspection with each USED car sale. Mandatory Smog every two years.

Virgina, Mandatory YEARLY inspections Mandatory 1-2 year smog

South Carolina Mandatory Used car inspection. Mandatory 1 time Used car smog inspection

Wyoming Vin inspection only to make sure VIN number matches title. Nothing else

  2. NY NJ emmission and inspection

    Ohio nothing

  3. Not mandatory everywhere! I wish, sure would keep rolling hunks of junk off the roads of Oklahoma. OK did away with it in 2002, and personally I think its the biggest mistake. HOWEVER, some of these small country garages operate under the assumption that if the car made it out there it must be road worthy. But you may spend a long time looking for one, more than the minor repairs would cost you, not to mention safety.

  4. South Australia doesn't have inspections, unless you buy a car from interstate and want to register it here.

  5. alabama no mississippi yes

  6. Wisconsin does not

  7. It depends on what inspection you are talking about. I believe safety inspections are mandatory everywhere, but emissions inspections are by city or county.
