What steps can I take to join Delta Sigma Theta Inc.?

Question

I am interested in becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. I am interested in joining the alumnae chapter in my hometown. However, I am currently outside of the U.S. and I wanted to know what could I do while working outside of the U.S. to help further this endeavor? I plan to move back home in about a year and a half. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I agree with everything my soror dablest1 has said already. I just want to add that we are an international organization and that we may have a chapter in the country that you are currently living in.  There are chapters in Japan, The UK ,Germany,  The Bahamas, Jamaica and many other countries that are active . If there is a chapter where you are ( most of them have websites) try finding out when they are having events so you can get to know the women. If you happen to be in a country where there is no chapter you can try contacting the ladies in the chapter in your hometown to express your interest so that they can know you when you return home to the US. Also if possible you can do community service where you are. This will look great to my sorors because it shows your commitment to serving the community that you are in wherever that may be even if you are there only for a short while.

At this point the only thing I would suggest is continue your community service, (If that’s possible since you are working outside the US), check and see if they have a website to keep you updated on events, if not see if there is a mailing list that you can join *some chapters offer this and will add you* so they can keep you informed of all events.

Also the chapter that you want to join, do you know any sorors from that chapter? OR do you have any friends that may sorors from that chapter? It would be a good idea to connect with them as well, and express your interests.
