  1. Take some business classes.  Bookkeeping would be good.  Then business management, marketing, etc.

If you could get in Junior Achievement, that would give you some experience in management, marketing, and advertising, & selling a product.

If you're just wanting to do the planning, you might want to get into some classes that show you how to plan for catering and how much food to order for groups...etc

Call an Event Planner/Wedding Coordinator and ask a  lot of questions about what she/he would suggest as far as classes/courses to take to prepare for this career.

  2. 1. If your school offers it, take psychology and sociology to understand people and their motivations better. If not, take it in college.

    2. If you can get on student council, do so and join any committee that plans prom, homecoming, graduation (later) and any other events.

    3. Work behind the scenes for the school play or pageant. See what it takes to manage a project and take care of details for a big event.

    4. Go to local wedding shows and see what goes into planning such an event.

5 See if you can get a part time job (may not be possible until you are 16) setting up and tearing down and doing other tasks at an event center for all kinds of different events.

    6. Study hard so you can get into a good college and study public relations and/or psychology/sociology. Quite honestly being able to deal with all kinds of people will be just as important as having great taste in flowers and color schemes.

    7. Join any school or community entrepreneur clubs and Junior Achievement if they have it to learn about running a business.

Good luck! How cool that you are thinking of all this now.

Also you can look on theknot.com - real weddings to develop your taste in what you like and don't like as elements in different weddings and go to indiebride.com's forums and read about wedding disasters and the problems that can arise and start thinking of how you would help your future clients avoid those disasters.

    :-)

  3. take some business classes at your techinical college or university. Also get a degree is Marketing. That will help. Contact the association of wedding planners and take their certification course. That will help.

  4. Why don't you see if a local hotel that has a wedding planner would let you shadow or do an internship?

  5. Try to get on committees at school.  Try things that may need direction and planning, like prom and other dances.  Also, Try to be an office in a club.  This will give you experience in leadership and working on projects.  Also, try calling  event planning companies in your area to see if they will let you work for them on weekends or even after school.

Also, this job would require business and computer skills so make sure you study these area.

    Good luck!
